GoGuides User-First Promise

GoGuides exists for users first. That means:
  • No pay-to-rank. Money never buys organic ranking positions.
  • No ads in organic results. Search results are not for sale.
  • Quality wins. Useful pages outrank spammy pages as the index grows.
  • Transparency. We publish clear rules and give practical guidance.
Webmasters: Start with Guidelines and then the Webmasters Playbook.
If anything conflicts, Guidelines win.

Basics

What is GoGuides?
GoGuides is an independent search engine built around quality-first results and transparency. We do not license, resell, or pull search results from other search engines. We crawl the open web, build our own index, and rank pages using scoring signals.

In addition to our crawl/index, we may use open and publicly available datasets to improve understanding (entities, spellings, classifications). These datasets enhance the index—they do not replace it.
Is GoGuides still in development?
Yes. Crawling, ranking, spam controls, and user features improve continuously. The Roadmap shows what’s in progress.

Favicon System

What is the GoGuides favicon trust system?
GoGuides favicons are a deterministic, verifiable trust and quality signal—not a decoration. They are generated from scoring and trust rules so users can spot stronger sites faster.
  • Deterministic: same inputs → same favicon.
  • Transparent: the meaning of the visual elements is explained.
  • Search-driven: favicons are generated as coverage grows through real usage.
Learn more on Favicon System.
How do I verify a favicon or a site’s status?
Use Verify. It explains what you’re seeing and shows the site’s favicon/verification details.
How do I embed my GoGuides favicon on my site?
Use the embed instructions page: favicon_code.php.
Embedding should use live URLs so the favicon stays current (not a static screenshot).

Ranking & AI Rank

What is “AI Rank”?
Every submitted site receives an AI Rank score from 0 to 100 based on quality signals: usefulness, clarity, trustworthiness, user experience, content depth, and technical health.
How do AI Rank scores map to letter grades?
Because a raw number can feel abstract, GoGuides also shows a letter grade that matches the score:
AI Rank Score Letter Grade How to read it
0–34FBelow GoGuides quality standard; cannot be indexed.
35–39C-Basic site; needs significant improvement.
40–44CAcceptable, but still thin or limited in quality.
45–49C+Improving; some good signals, but not yet strong.
50–54B-Good foundation; clear room for improvement.
55–59BSolid, generally useful and trustworthy.
60–64B+Strong, helpful content with good structure.
65–69A-High quality; almost at the free-inclusion threshold.
70–84AHigh quality; qualifies for free inclusion.
85–100A+Outstanding; best-in-class for its topic.
Example: AI Rank: 52/100 Grade: B-
Does paying GoGuides improve organic ranking?
No. GoGuides does not sell organic ranking positions. Ranking is determined by relevance and quality signals, not payment.

Indexing & Crawling

How does GoGuides discover and index pages?
GoGuides crawls the web, follows links, and builds an index for fast retrieval. Pages must be crawlable, readable, and meet quality rules to be included.

Fees & Payments

Do you charge an indexing fee?
GoGuides can offer paid indexing options. An indexing fee pays for processing and inclusion services (like prioritized crawling/review/tools) — not for organic ranking positions.

Keyword Expansion (Enhanced Indexing)

What is Keyword Expansion?
Keyword Expansion (also called Enhanced Indexing) lets webmasters and SEOs add additional relevant keywords so GoGuides can index more of a site’s real inventory. This is especially useful for sites with lots of products, categories, services, locations, or long-tail pages that a crawler might not fully capture.
How does adding keywords improve GoGuides search quality?
When webmasters and SEOs add keywords, they are adding quality to GoGuides. They’re not buying rank — they’re expanding the index with real, relevant terms so users get more complete and accurate results.
  • More complete indexing: real products/services/pages become searchable instead of being missed.
  • Cleaner relevance: users find the exact thing they searched for because the correct terms exist in the index.
  • Better structure signals: keyword lists reflect real categories and site organization, improving understanding.
  • Quality pressure: keywords must match the site’s real content/inventory, which strengthens the overall index.
This is why it’s called GoGuides: the people submitting and expanding keywords are the real guides. They help shape a higher-quality index that benefits everyone.
Is Keyword Expansion an ad or a ranking boost?
No. Keyword Expansion is not an advertisement and it does not buy organic ranking positions. It improves discoverability by expanding the index with real, relevant terms so pages can rank naturally when they truly match a query.
What stops abuse (submitting unrelated keywords)?
Relevance rules apply. If a keyword is not genuinely relevant to the site’s content/inventory, it won’t be accepted. The goal is better indexing and better results—not manipulation.

Privacy

Does GoGuides track users?
GoGuides aims to minimize tracking and avoid invasive profiling. See Privacy Policy for current details.

Safety & Quality

What content does GoGuides suppress or remove?
GoGuides suppresses malware, phishing, deceptive sites, redirect-only pages, auto-generated spam, and content designed to trick users.
Do you guarantee uptime, rankings, or indexing?
No. Indexing and ranking can change over time, and content may be excluded or down-ranked to protect users and quality.
GoGuides philosophy in one line:
Search should be built for users, not for manipulation.
