Our mission is to give everyday users and site owners a search engine they can understand and trust: clear inclusion rules, transparent AI scoring, and no pay-to-rank shortcuts.

What GoGuides Is Today

GoGuides is no longer a human-edited web directory. It is now a fully automated AI-driven search engine with:

AI Rank (0–100) that scores site quality based on content depth, technical health, and usability.
Three inclusion tiers:
- Tier 1: Below quality standard — cannot be indexed.
- Tier 2: Meets minimum bar — eligible for paid indexing.
- Tier 3: High quality — free inclusion & indexing.
Strict AI-enforced red lines for spam, abuse, and restricted categories.

AI makes the inclusion call. Human bias, “favorites”, and backdoor deals are not part of the model. If a site earns a higher AI Rank, it earns better treatment in GoGuides search.

How We Fight Spam and Low-Quality Results

GoGuides was originally known for the idea of a “spam-free web search.” On the modern internet, “100% spam-free” can’t honestly be promised — but we can design GoGuides to be as spam-resistant as possible.

Today, we do that by:

Tier 1 (0–34): Sites below our AI quality standard, redirect-only domains, unreachable sites, and restricted categories are rejected and not indexed.
Permanent red lines: Certain categories (for example, some pornography, gambling, and clearly harmful content) may always receive a very low AI Rank and never qualify for inclusion.
Automated consistency: The same rules apply to everyone, large or small.
No paid ranking boosts: Paid indexing can help get crawled and included, but it cannot buy a higher AI Rank or better search position.

The goal is the same as it has always been: keep GoGuides useful for real people, not a playground for spammers.

A Short History of GoGuides

GoGuides has taken a long, winding path to get here:

Late 1990s / early 2000s: GoGuides began as a human-edited web directory project during the early days of the commercial internet.
Independent relaunch: The GoGuides domains were later privately acquired and rebuilt as an independent, community-driven directory focused on quality review.
Directory era: For many years, GoGuides operated as a paid review, lifetime-listing directory, trying to maintain a high-quality, human-reviewed index.
2025: As traditional web directories faded and the old listings decayed, the GoGuides directory project was permanently closed. Lifetime directory listings ended when that project shut down.
2025 and beyond: GoGuides is reborn as an AI-powered search engine with fresh rules, fresh technology, and a clean slate for inclusion.

Important: Previous lifetime listings applied only to the legacy human-edited directory, which is now permanently closed. The new GoGuides AI Search is a separate, modern search engine. Any site — old or new — must be evaluated under the current AI Rank system for inclusion.
